Client: Beppu City Hall
Project: International Alumni Network
Project Overview
- Beppu City, renowned for hosting over 4,000 international students, faced the challenge of maintaining connections with its global alumni network. As graduates frequently moved away to pursue career opportunities, the city sought a solution to retain engagement and foster continued affinity among former international residents, both within Japan and abroad.
Strategic Approach
- Mochiron Co., Ltd. successfully addressed this challenge by designing and executing an extensive outreach campaign, which involved:
- Creating a comprehensive survey targeting international alumni.
- Reaching out directly to over 1,000 alumni across 102 countries, including 850 in Japan and 150 overseas.
- Leveraging a close connection with Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU)—with 90% of the respondents being APU graduates—enabled streamlined communication and effective
engagement.
Leveraging Alumni Networks
- Our founder, an APU alumnus (Class of 2019), personally connected with over 500 graduates. Additionally, we strategically employed 10 current APU students as part-time team members, empowering them to engage their senior alumni effectively. This collaborative effort ensured project completion within an ambitious three-month timeframe.
Results and Impact
- Established a robust alumni database that facilitates ongoing communication and community-building initiatives.
- Enabled Beppu City Hall to proactively share critical information about future incentives, opportunities for settlement, and new business ventures in Beppu.
Long-term Opportunities
- This initiative significantly strengthened Beppu’s relationship with its international alumni, creating a foundation for continuous engagement and fostering potential future economic and community development opportunities.
